The world of motor sports has always been the realm of tense competition, one up showmanship, and futuristic technology. But if a prototype robot by Yamaha gains traction, we may soon see a robotic Lewis Hamilton burning rubber on the race track.

Unveiled at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, a humanoid driver called Motobot is aiming to pilot a Yamaha R1M bike around the race track at speeds in excess of 200 kilometers per hour. Can Motobot someday beat the likes of racing champion Valentino Rossi in the record books? We’ll soon find out.
