Pet Entertainment Bot, or Pebby for short, is an invention by local start-up Sybo Tech Singapore. This nine-centimeter diameter rolling sphere is designed to perform the dual function of keeping an eye on pets left home alone and providing them with entertainment.

Looking like a child’s toy, the transparent robot is equipped with a wide-angled camera connected to Wi-Fi, and gyroscopes that keep it pointed upright so it always has its sights trained on the pet in its ‘care.’ When paired with a sensor-embedded collar, Pebby is able to track not just the location, but also the activity level of the pet. Beyond its original intended use, its creators say that Pebby can also be used for general surveillance. As innocuous as Pebby looks, you never know when big brother is watching!
