Hello, World! Meet 10 Made-In-Asia Robots

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then the Geminoid F certainly takes the cake for perfecting the art of the double take. Geminoid F is an ultra-realistic humanoid built by Professor Hiroshi Ishiguro of Osaka University in collaboration with colleagues at Japanese robotics firms ATR Intelligent Robotics and Communications Laboratories, and Kokoro.

While Geminoid F is not the first life-like robot aiming to break away from the concept of uncanny valley—a feeling of revulsion against something that is nearly identical in resemblance to humans but not quite yet so—she is the most famous, having recently played a starring role opposite a human actress in the Japanese film Sayonara.
