Matchmaking Inventors & Investors At Techventure 2014

Don’t miss Asia’s top networking and technology showcase happening on September 24-25, 2014 at Marina Bay Sands.

AsianScientist (Sep. 24, 2014)Techventure 2014, Singapore’s premier technology and innovation showcase, opens today at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center to over 700 delegates from around the world. About 120 startups from the engineering, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, water technology, biotechnology and infocomm technology sectors are exhibiting at Techventure 2014.

Exciting technologies will be showcased at Techventure 2014, including a medication management system to prevent errors in prescription of medication; a low-cost, easy-to-use home energy management system to help households and small businesses track energy consumption; and a cybersecurity software that captures an image of the website for monitoring and quickly restores it with a replica after it has been hacked or defaced.

For the first time, the exhibition at Techventure 2014 features pavilions housing startups under the same incubator or venture capital fund. These pavilions include investment partners under the National Research Foundation’s Technology Incubation Scheme and i.JAM, Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship (KISED), Start-Up Chile, Taiwan’s Institute of Information Industry, DBS Bank and more.

No stranger to starting up, having co-founded three technology startups, Techventure 2014 speaker, Dado Banatao, believes that infrastructure development across Southeast Asia could be a huge opportunity for technology-based investments. He will be outlining key opportunities, growth areas and trends for the next global game changer in his keynote speech tomorrow.

The two-day event will culminate in the Business Pitch Competition which will see 16 companies pitching against each other for the Top Pitch prize of S$50,000 (~US$40,000) awarded by Infocomm Investments Pte Ltd.

Co-organised by the National Research Foundation (NRF), Prime Minister’s Office, Singapore, Exploit Technologies Pte Ltd (ETPL), the technology transfer arm of A*STAR and SPRING Singapore (SPRING), Techventure 2014 is a multi-agency effort towards supporting and accelerating local technology innovation and entrepreneurial efforts.
