SWITCHing On Innovation

Innovators and enterprises can prepare to ‘plug and play’ at this year’s SWITCH event at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre from 18 to 20 September 2017.

AsianScientist (Sept. 5, 2017) – No company or country has a monopoly on good ideas and technology. In today’s disruptive and globalized business climate, innovation is a key driver of growth and success. Switching up the innovation landscape in Singapore, SWITCH (Singapore Week of Innovation & TeCHnology) is returning for the second year running, bringing together the best minds from around the world to create exchanges that will revolutionize the way we work, play and live.

Featuring eight conferences, more than 300 exhibits and seven satellite partner events over three days from 18 to 20 September at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre, SWITCH 2017 is a platform for inventors and business owners to rub shoulders in a festive atmosphere.

This year’s theme, ‘Founding a New World,’ will see domain experts discussing current and future technologies, including the reprogramming of bodies with biotech, artificial intelligence’s impact on creativity, developments in space technology, autonomous vehicles, clean energy, and robotics.

Mr. Heng Swee Keat, Minister for Finance, will kickstart the event with an opening address, and a panel consisting of Mr. Mike Descheneaux, President, Silicon Valley Bank; Mr. William Bao Bean, General Partner, SOSV; and Mr. Taizo Son, CEO, Mistletoe, will provide key insights on ‘Imagining a New World with Technology’.

More than 6,000 are expected to attend SWITCH 2017, which is highly regarded as one of the leading ‘plug and play’ platforms in Asia. The international and local partner events this year include the inaugural edition of Campus Party in Singapore, Convergence, Impact Hub Singapore, Ecosystem Day: Nature SciCafe Asia & Singapore QuickFire Challenge, Slingshot@SWITCH, Slush Singapore, SWITCH ON@LaunchPad, TechInnovation, VentureCon (e27) and Women in Tech Conference (Asia).

“The inaugural SWITCH event last year brought together a tremendous number of talented people from Singapore and many other countries,” said Mr. Steve Leonard, founding CEO of SGInnovate. “We are building on that momentum. We will switch up a gear this year by focusing more on how technology can positively impact lives. We want SWITCH 2017 to help people learn, discuss and understand how technology can play a positive role in building societies and economies.”

SWITCH is presented by SGInnovate and supported by the National Research Foundation Singapore.
