Wildtype Books Successfully Launches Asian Scientist Junior Book Series

The beautifully illustrated book series on six scientists from Asia was supported by a Kickstarter campaign and donation from City Developments Limited.

AsianScientist (Sep. 23, 2018) – Wildtype Books, an imprint of Wildtype Media Group Pte Ltd, has officially launched Asian Scientist Junior, a book series detailing the lives of six extraordinary scientists from Asia. The launch on September 23, 2018 was graced by guest of honor Mr. Heng Swee Keat, Minister for Finance and Chairman of the National Research Foundation Singapore.

The book launch was held at My Tree House, the world’s first green library for kids, opened in 2013 by City Developments Limited (CDL) in partnership with the Central Public Library. Following a book reading by Minister Heng, children and their parents in the audience were treated to a show-and-tell demonstration by one of the scientists featured in the series, Professor Chou Loke Ming.

Asian Scientist Junior is a passion project for myself and my team, borne out of the desire to tell the stories of scientists who made amazing discoveries right here in Asia,” said Dr. Juliana Chan, CEO of Wildtype Media Group. “We hope that these books will inspire the next generation of scientists and show them what is possible with hard work and determination.”

Over a month-long Kickstarter campaign, the Wildtype Media team was able to raise close to S$16,000 through 128 backers. The company also received a donation of S$10,000 from CDL to make the books available to primary schools across Singapore, as well as contributions from an anonymous donor to place the books in all 26 public libraries in Singapore.
