You’ll be surprised at how much walking is done in the lab. Grab some reagents from the freezer, shuffle over to the incubator then walk down the corridor into the adjacent room to use the microscope. Repeat this routine multiple times a day, almost every day and you’ll realize how important footwear is for a scientist. The science is tough enough, so why make it tougher by walking about in uncomfortable or worn out shoes? Consider gifting a good pair, but only if you know the recipient’s foot size and preference for footwear.
