Bruker Expands In Singapore And Shanghai

Bruker Corporation has opened its second major Applications, Training and Service Center in Shanghai, and a new Singapore Center of Excellence at the Biopolis research hub.

AsianScientist (May 27, 2011) – Marking a major milestone in its nearly 40 year history in China, Bruker expands in China with the opening of its second major Applications, Training and Service Center in Shanghai today.

Bringing together all of Bruker’s East China operations, including the recently acquired Bruker Chemical & Applied Markets division and the Bruker Nano Surfaces division, the new Shanghai facility will offer Bruker’s customers access to a multi-technology applications, training and demonstration Center of Excellence in China.

The new Shanghai facility complements Bruker’s Beijing facility, which is presently being expanded again by approximately 50 percent. Bruker also intends to open an additional service and sales office in Guangzhou later this year.

Dr. Frank Laukien, President and CEO of Bruker Corporation, commented:

“Bruker has come a long way since our first attendance at a scientific conference in Beijing in 1974. My Bruker colleagues and I are very excited by the new opportunities for customer collaborations, training and support, and applications research in China offered by our second major Chinese facility here in Shanghai.”

Two days earlier, Bruker opened a new Singapore Center of Excellence at Singapore’s Biomedical Hub, the Biopolis. Bruker Singapore will provide sales and after-sales services for South East Asia, including a regional applications and customer training center. The Center will also provide business and financial services for Bruker operations in the region.

“We have taken a keen interest in Singapore’s progress on the biomedical and life sciences front. The proactive, long-term stance taken by the government and its agencies, such as EDB and A*STAR, to support industry by anchoring scientific research activities here is an impressive model,” said Dr. Laukien.

Bruker Singapore has about 45 staff and it expects to hire 10 to 20 more staff at the graduate to PhD level as its business expands.

“We have recently entered the field of microbiology here in Singapore and are excited to see the latest proteomic microbial identification technology now supporting better clinical decisions in infectious disease management,” said George Tang, General Manager of Bruker Singapore.
