Munshi received the 2018 Ramanujan Prize for Young Mathematicians from Developing Countries, an annual award given to researchers less than 45 years of age. He was recognized for his outstanding work in number theory, a branch of pure mathematics that studies the properties of integers, or numbers that do not have a fractional part. No stranger to the AS100 list having first appeared in the 2018 edition, Munshi’s research has previously been recognized with accolades such as the Infosys Award in 2017, the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in 2015 and the Birla Science Prize in 2013.
