Ota is the Inspiration Prize winner of the Third Marie Sklodowska Curie Award. She pioneered a new field of elemental chemistry by using boron and nitrogen to synthesize novel inorganic aromatic compounds without carbon in their frameworks and developed compounds with unique bonding motifs.
