Monterola is a leader in the field of data science and has mentored over 100 young scientists in his career in the Philippines and Singapore. He is also a technical advisor to various enterprises on Artificial Intelligence. He sits on the board of Xurpas, Inc, a publicly listed technology company that has offered innovative IT products and services for the past twenty years. Monterola has been conferred the rank of academician, the highest recognition by the National Academy of Science and Technology in the Philippines.
