Tiny Technologies, Incredible Impact

From lightweight sports equipment to potable water, here are ten ways that nanotechnology is changing our lives.

#5 MEDICAL IMAGING

The medical imaging field is constantly striving towards more sensitive and safer ways to take detailed pictures of the body’s organs and structures. Iron oxide nanoparticles have been used extensively in magnetic resonance (MR) imaging to diagnose and manage a wide range of health issues including cancer, cardiovascular disease and gastrointestinal inflammation.

Newer nanomaterials such as nanodiamonds may prove particularly useful due to their unique ability to promote interactions between paramagnetic ions and water.
