Tiny Technologies, Incredible Impact

From lightweight sports equipment to potable water, here are ten ways that nanotechnology is changing our lives.

#3 COSMETICS

Beyond UV protection, nanoformulations are finding their place in cosmetics for the enhanced delivery of compounds. A major hurdle in wrinkle-removal fillers like collagen injectables has been the rapid clearance of these injections from the skin.

Radiesse, an injection of hydroxyapatite nanobeads under the skin, stimulates endogenous collagen production at the site of injection for longer periods of time. Despite the benefits that nanotechnology may bring to the performance of cosmetic products, the long-term health effects of using these formulations remain unclear.
