VWR Acquires Shanghai’s LabPartner To Strengthen Position In China

VWR International, LLC, a global distributing laboratory supplies and services, announced yesterday that it will acquire LabPartner (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. in China.

AsianScientist (Aug. 5, 2011) – VWR International, LLC announced yesterday that it will acquire LabPartner (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., subject to customary closing conditions and Chinese regulatory approval.

Headquartered in Radnor, Pennsylvania, VWR International, LLC is a global laboratory supply and distribution company with worldwide sales in excess of US$3.6 billion in 2010. As part of the company’s global corporate strategy, it has acquired LabPartner to expand VWR’s footprint in the Asia Pacific.

Based in Shanghai, LabPartner is an established provider of lab equipment, reagents, consumables, and services for research and development. LabPartner supports the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries in China, delivering products and services, with a focus on chemical distribution.

“VWR’s acquisition of LabPartner strengthens our position in China by increasing our scale, geographic reach, and supplier offerings to our customers,” said Eddy Wu, VWR’s Senior Vice President and President of Asia Pacific.

“We are excited to add LabPartner’s complementary business to VWR’s global laboratory supply and distribution business.”
