Jeong was awarded the 2024 Science Prize from POSCO TJ Park Foundation. He is best known for elucidating the operating principle of metal oxidation at the atomic level for the first time in the world. Jeong has successfully produced copper single crystals into the thinnest atomic monolayer (0.2nm) level of ultra-flat films using self-developed technology.
