Mendoza received the 2024 NAST Outstanding Young Scientist Award in mathematics, particularly for developing biological model controls through evolutionary computation, investigating Wolbachia’s effects on controlling vector-borne diseases, and optimizing electric vehicle charging station placements using metaheuristic algorithms.
