Awarded the 2026 TWAS Award in Social Sciences (shared), Sundaram was recognized for his leadership in advancing inclusive and sustainable development. A former UN Assistant Secretary-General, he has shaped global economic policy, championed South–South cooperation and founded key international networks to strengthen interdisciplinary approaches to development challenges in the Global South.
