Hahm is the 8th Laureate of the S. Chandrasekhar Prize of Plasma Physics for broadening our understanding of turbulence and confinement physics in tokamak plasmas as well as pioneering the development of modern nonlinear gyrokinetic theories. At the Seoul National University, his research group focuses on the theoretical study of plasmas in magnetic fusion devices, including its instabilities as well as the anomalous transport of magnetically confined plasmas.
