Luvsandash received the 2025 Goldman Environmental Prize for his grassroots leadership in protecting the Eastern Gobi Desert from mining. Drawing on local knowledge and scientific mapping, he led efforts to establish protected areas covering tens of thousands of acres, safeguarding habitats for endangered species and supporting nomadic herder communities. His work demonstrates the power of community-driven conservation in defending fragile ecosystems against industrial pressures.
