In 2016, Jiang was recognized with a Nikkei Asia Prize in the science and technology category for his research in the fields of bioinspired and biomimetic multiscale interface materials. An award-winning chemist, Jiang has published hundreds of research papers in internationally-renowned journals, and developed over 30 patents. In addition to the Nikkei Asia Prize, Jiang has won two national awards in his native China: the National Thousands of Experts Project in the New Century in 2004 and the National Natural Science Award in 2005.
