AsianScientist (Jul. 23, 2011) – Three Asian firms have made it into the Top 10 of Forbes‘ ‘The World’s Most Innovative Companies’ list, which ranked a total of 100 companies in its latest issue.
The news outlet defined Innovation Premium as:
A measure of how much investors have bid up the stock price of a company above the value of its existing business based on expectations of future innovative results (new products, services and markets).
Members of the list must have US$10 billion in market capitalization, spend at least one percent of their asset base on R&D, and have seven years of public data.
Chinese internet company Tencent Holding Limited was ranked fourth, while two Indian companies, consumer products firm Hindustan (Uni)Lever (HUL) and engineering firm Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), were ranked sixth and ninth respectively.
Other notable entries were Japan’s Nidec Corporation (Nidec), Terumo Corporation, and Keyence Corporation at 13th, 14th and 17th respectively.
