AsianScientist (Mar. 19, 2019) – The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tencent Finance Academy (Hong Kong) (TFAHK) to promote the development of FinTech in Hong Kong.
Under the agreement, TFAHK will collaborate with HKU to enhance the HKU’s Bachelor of Science in FinTech undergraduate program which will be rolled out in September 2019, as well as provide students with activities like workshops, guest lectures, talks and company visits.
HKU students can also look forward to internship opportunities for four consecutive academic years. Meanwhile, the FinTech & Blockchain Lab of the department of computer science at HKU will collaborate with TFAHK on joint FinTech-related research and development projects.
“FinTech has become a global development trend. Our new degree program in FinTech in the new academic year will equip students with knowledge in this area… With the integration and sharing of knowledge and resources [with TFAKH], it will definitely help our students in developing cross-industry knowledge and skills in FinTech,” said Professor Christopher Chao, dean of engineering at HKU.
