AsianScientist (Aug. 3, 2015) – Roche Diagnostics has officially opened its new Asia Pacific Headquarters and regional Center of Excellence in Singapore. Roche Diagnostics invested more than S$8.4 million (~US$6.1 million) in its new facility. The new Center of Excellence houses a state-of-the-art Training Center which features the latest systems across all diagnostics areas as well as a new second line technical support centre for customers in Asia Pacific.
“This investment further demonstrates our commitment to Singapore and the strategic importance of Asia Pacific for Roche Diagnostics. Asia Pacific is home to about 4.1 billion people and is a rapidly developing and growing region with many challenges in the healthcare delivery,” said Mr. Lance Little, Managing Director of Roche Diagnostics Asia Pacific.
“With a direct presence in 15 countries throughout the region, the location of our regional headquarters is an important part of a strategy that will allow us to provide better service through our diagnostic capabilities across the entire healthcare space.”
Singapore’s strong fundamentals in healthcare excellence and standards of medical practice that rank among the best in the world make the country an intuitive choice as a regional hub for Roche Diagnostics. As the Regional Headquarters, the Singapore office will house strategic regional headquarter functions, solidifying Singapore as the anchor of Roche Diagnostics regional strategy.
The Roche Diagnostics’ Regional Headquarters employs over 230 people, while another 4,000 employees are spread across 14 other countries across Asia Pacific. The move to a new, larger office space—at the Aperia building in Kallang—will enable Roche to double the capacity of its employees in Singapore.
Roche Diagnostics has been in Asia Pacific for over forty years and established its Singapore office in 1998, striving to advance the delivery of healthcare in the region ever since. Roche Diagnostics systems and solutions are currently deployed across all leading hospitals in Singapore, where it is also the market leader. The new Center of Excellence serves as a site to train Roche Diagnostics technical staff, however the future plan is to also develop the site into an education center for laboratories across the region.
