Aquatic Biology Collaboration For CAS & Ottawa

The MoU between IHB and the University of Ottawa includes research symposia, exchange programs and joint projects.

AsianScientist (Oct. 28, 2014) – The Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Ottawa (uOttawa), Canada to promote excellence through multidisciplinary and multi-institutional collaborations and build a partnership consistent with the strategic goals and values of both institutions.

The MoU mainly focuses on the mobility of professors and research personnel, generation of external research funding, production and dissemination of knowledge. The joint symposia on fish/aquatic physiology, exchange programs for staff, doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows, joint research projects and joint research centers are specified in the MoU. It is hoped that both sides can complement each other in aquatic biology and establish a stable cooperative partnership.

The partnership between IHB and uOttawa goes back several years, beginning with the research links between uOttawa’s Professor Vance Trudeau and IHB’s Professor Hu Wei. The two professors are now jointly conducting an International Research Acceleration Program which is funded by uOttawa.
