AsianScientist (Feb. 6, 2012) – China today published a set of images that offer full coverage of the moon surface at a resolution of seven meters, reported China’s official news agency, Xinhua News.

The moon images were captured by the country’s second moon orbiter, the Chang’e-2 (嫦娥二号), and represents the first time the moon has been covered at this resolution, said a statement from the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (国防科学技术工业委员会).

The satellite is now orbiting the second Lagrange Point more than 1.5 million kilometers away from Earth, said the Xinhua report.
