We bring 10 inspirational stories from the WIE 2011 Symposium, representing the voices of women (and men) from all sectors of society who are changing our world.
“Get the skills right for those interested in tech,” Eva Ho, technology entrepreneur.
Ho started on the tried and tested path: studying biology at Harvard University, before receiving an MBA from Cornell University.
Diverging from her training, Ho started working in the tech field, helping to create a product that webmasters know fondly as Google AdSense.
After five years at Google, Ho left in 2008 to work on start-up projects, founding Navigating Cancer, Inc. to provide more information for cancer patients, and Factual, an open data platform for application developers.
Ho has taken on community projects as the Executive Director of Whole Child LA, and as a board member at Iridescent, a non-profit which helps mentor girls in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects.
Speaking to all women who are budding technologists, Ho stressed the importance of getting the right technical skills to succeed in this field.
