Asian Scientist (Feb. 19, 2014) – Biotech company ASLAN Pharmaceuticals Pte Ltd, which is headquartered in Singapore, has opened a new office in Taipei, Taiwan.

ASLAN currently has 3 drugs in development and plans to initiate several clinical studies in Taiwan, including a phase 2b program for ASLAN001, a small-molecule pan-HER inhibitor being developed for gastric cancer that showed positive data in a phase 2 study completed last year.

“Taiwan is emerging as a leading center for conducting high quality clinical trial globally,” said Dr Alan Barge, ASLAN’s Chief Medical Officer.

“Strong local talent and experience in global drug development make this an ideal place to develop drugs for global markets.”

Dr Tom Lin, previously Senior Medical Director of OBI Pharma, and Betsy Chiu, previously head of clinical operations for Boehringer Ingelheim Taiwan, have joined ASLAN in Taiwan to support clinical development across the region.
