We bring 10 inspirational stories from the WIE 2011 Symposium, representing the voices of women (and men) from all sectors of society who are changing our world.

“Women need to take part in the peace process,” Abigail Disney, executive producer of Women, War & Peace.

Women, War & Peace, a five-part series premiering on October 11, 2011.

Besides producing the five-part Women, War & Peace series, Disney was also a producer on the film Pray the Devil Back to Hell, and was a writer on Peace Unveiled, the third film in a series about Afghanistan.

Disney said that a dismal three percent of signatories to all peace agreements around the world are women, and called for greater participation by women in politics at all levels.

Even with the Security Council Resolution 1325 (SCR1325), the first resolution passed by the United Nations a decade ago to promote women’s equal and full participation at the table during peace talks, there has been a lack of progress, she said.
