Singapore Hospital To Attempt Guinness World Records Title

Were you born in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital? On October 16 at Bishan Stadium, the hospital will be attempting a world record for the largest reunion of people born at the same hospital.

AsianScientist (Sep. 13, 2016) – Calling all KKH babies! KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) in Singapore will be attempting a Guinness World Records title for the largest reunion of people born at the same hospital.

KKH, formerly known as Kandang Kerbau Women’s and Children’s Hospital, set the world record in 1966 for being the world’s largest maternity hospital with a record birth of 39,835 babies born that year, a record it held for ten years.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of this achievement, and KKH will commemorate it with a community family carnival called Born in KKH. A special highlight of the event will be the setting of this new record.

The current record holder for the largest reunion of people born in the same hospital is The Medical City, a hospital in the Philippines, which set the record on April 12, 2015, with 1,221 people showing up. A recent challenge for the record on August 7, 2016, by a hospital in Iowa, US, ended with the record unbroken.

This record-setting attempt calls out to those of primary school age and above who were born in KKH to reunite and celebrate this shared affinity. Those born in the record-setting year 1966 will also have a special place in the celebrations.

The Born in KKH event will take place at Bishan Stadium on Sunday, October 16, 2016, and is an open invitation to the Singapore public from all walks of life.
