Fujitsu & NCKU Sign Big Data Platform MOU

The National Cheng Kung University and Fujitsu will develop a cloud computing platform for big data analysis in agriculture and genomics research.

AsianScientist (Aug. 18, 2014) – Taiwan’s National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Fujitsu Taiwan Ltd. for building an analytics platform for big data.

Dr. Hwung Hwung-Hweng, president of NCKU, and Mr. Ikegami Ichirou, president and chief executive officer of Fujitsu Taiwan, signed the MOU on behalf of their respective organizations.

With a solid engineering research of NCKU, which helps promote the application of microbiology and agricultural sciences, the input from Fujitsu, a leading Japanese information and communication technology company and the platform are expected to enlarge NCKU’s role in global agricultural research.

NCKU President Hwung said that under the MOU, both parties will establish a platform for cloud computing and big data analysis to help develop agriculture and genomics research.

The initial cooperation between NCKU and Fujitsu will focus on nurturing talents, followed by researchers exchange through holding conferences and workshops. Fujitsu and NCKU will jointly build a big data analytics platform of agriculture and bioinformatics, explore the important genomics research issues, and share R&D results.
