Singapore Hosts Asian Physics Olympiad 2014

Over 300 participants from 27 countries have come together for world’s largest regional physics competition.

AsianScientist (May 12, 2014) – Asia’s top physics whizzes met in Singapore this week for the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) 2014.

APhO is an annual physics competition for high school students from Asia and Oceania. Jointly organized by the Department of Physics at the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, the Institute of Physics Singapore and the Materials Research Society of Singapore, this year’s event runs from May 11 to 18 and gathers over 300 participants from 27 countries.

The competition will be conducted over two days, and will feature both theoretical and experimental problems across a variety of topics. Nobel Laureate Roy J. Glauber, the Mallinckrodt Professor of Physics, Emeritus at Harvard University will deliver a talk on the last day. This talk is open to the public.
