Vapourtec, Nanjing University To Build Chemistry Research Lab In China

Vapourtec and Nanjing University of Technology have agreed to establish a flow chemistry research lab in China.

AsianScientist (Dec. 19, 2013) – Vapourtec and Nanjing University of Technology have agreed to establish a flow chemistry research lab in China.

The aim of the Vapourtec and Tegent – NJUT Joint Research Center for Micro-fluidics Technology research lab is to manufacture useful chemical compounds from bio-mass using Vapourtec-manufactured technology, including their R-series systems.

“The technology and knowledge of Vapourtec will play a vital role in the evolution of our new flow chemistry research laboratory and the partnership represents a major step forward in joint research activity,” said Professor Kai Guo from NJUT’s College of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Engineering.

“NJUT already has a well established joint degree program link with Sheffield University’s Chemistry Department in which Chinese chemistry students spend their final year of studies in the UK,” said Professor Guo.

Founded in 2003, Vapourtec is one of the global manufacturers of flow chemistry systems for a range of industries including education and pharmaceuticals.

“It is the result of a long period of engagement with NJUT and represents a significant investment by both parties in the unlimited potential of green flow chemistry,” said Vapourtec founder Duncan Guthrie.

“The Chinese have, for many centuries, been innovators in the field of Green Chemistry with the highly successful isolation in the 1980s of anti-malaria drug Artemisinin being a perfect demonstration of their capabilities.”
