We have traversed the far-flung corners of science, medicine, engineering, and technology to come up with this list of 15 scientists who represent the movers and shakers of Asia.
#12: Pranav Mistry, Inventor
Have you seen the Tom Cruise movie, Minority Report, where Tom works with data on a screen without touching it? You’re about to hear the real thing.
Pranav Mistry is the inventor of SixthSense, a wearable device that enables new interactions between the real world – just like the movie. He has also invented an invisible mouse called Mouseless, which is controlled by an infrared laser beam and an infrared camera, both of which are embedded in the computer itself.
Currently a PhD student in the Fluid Interfaces Group at MIT’s Media Lab, Mr. Mistry has worked with Microsoft as a UX researcher and graduated from IIT, India. Some of his previous projects at MIT include intelligent sticky notes, Quickies, that can be searched and can send reminders; a pen that draws in 3D; and TaPuMa, a tangible public map that can act as Google of the physical world.
So what’s next, could we take a sneak peak? We can’t wait!
